That it is a delightful island and you can find hotels completly isolated on the west coast.
It’s a lot busier than it was, but that’s because it’s actually quite nice at the right time of year.

How many days should I spend in Phu Quoc Island?
I’m traveling from ho chi min to Phu Quoc by land and was wondering if this is feasible this way and what recommendations would you have for services on the way (boat, restaurant, guesthouse)?
My family and I will be travelling to Ho Chi Minh City before going to Phu Quoc. Can someone tell me how many days is reasonable to spend in Ho Chi Minh City before leaving for the island? Is 2 days sufficient or should I plan for 3 full days or more? Also, any great places to visit in Phu Quoc?
>> 2 full days is plenty of time in HCMC. You can do a day tour to Cu Chi tunnels and a day tour to Mekong Delta then take an evening flight to Phu Quoc

By speed boat : 2 a day from Ha Tien (about 1h30 trip) and 3 from Rach Gia (2 hours). There are a lot of combinations bus + boat from and to Saigon, Can Tho, Vinh Long (Rach Gia Harbour) and Cambodia (Kep, Kampot, Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap – Ha Tien Harbour).

Ferries from Phu Quoc direct to Cambodia?
There is no ferries from Phu Quoc to Cambodia.
You can’t do a day trip. You could go to Kep/Kampot via Ha Tien on the Vietnamese mainland, get a ferry from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien, and go by bus to Cambodia. You get a visa for Cambodia on arrival(20 USD) but would need either a new visa to re-enter Vietnam,or a multiple entry one initially

Visa Exemption for Phu Quoc
Can I use the Visa Exemption to fly either directly into Phu Quoc from outside Vietnam / into Phu Quoc from outside but transiting through one of the major airports (HCM / Hanoi etc)
Phu Quoc is designated a Special Economic Zone, it is possible to fly in Visa Exempt so long as you only stay in Phu Quoc (i.e – if you transit through one of the other airports, you don’t leave the airport)and don’t visit anywhere else.
You don’t technically need a visa if you fly to PQ from outside Vietnam with a transfer through one of the major airports, save yourself some stress and get one anyway. Finding airline reps to walk you through is nigh on impossible and without someone you will not be allowed through immigration.
Will standard Visa cover me in Phu Quoc?
Absolutely. Phu Quoc is part of Vietnam. If you already have a visa, you can go anywhere in Vietnam.
But that would happen in various parts of Vietnam – which means you need to apply for a permit to enter certain foreigner restricted areas. Sometimes it gets granted, other times not. It’s not really a visa issue, more an access issue. Check out the list of foreigner restricted areas in Vietnam
